The Supreme Court (SC) on Thursday issued notice to Opposition Leader in National Assembly (NA) Khurshid Shah on the application filed by his rival candidate Inayatullah in NA-199 Sukkar on alleged polls rigging.
The notice has been sent to Shah through the NA secretary. A two-member bench headed by Justice Jawwad S Khawaja took up the case for hearing.
Shahab Sarki appeared in the court on behalf of Pakistan Muslim League-Functional leader Inayatullah. The court was told that Shah has not received the notice.
The petitioner’s counsel said that if Shah has not received the notice then it should be sent again through the NA secretary.
The court said, “We have sent notice a day before during the course of hearing of a case through secretary. We go to issue the notice again. The notice will be got served through secretary NA this time.”
Inayatullah had alleged that rigging had taken place in NA-199 Sukkur during 2013 general election and he had approached the Election Tribunal in this regard. The tribunal had rejected the petition on technical grounds. Later, he resorted to the SC against tribunal decision. The court issued notices which had not reached Khurshid Shah. The court has once again issued notice.
The hearing of the case was adjourned until May 8.
