US Special Representative for Pakistan and Afghanistan James Dobbins said his country views the Nawaz-led government as a reliable partner in the pursuit of peace and is committed to a multi-faceted and long-term relationship with Pakistan.
US Special Representative for Pakistan and Afghanistan James Dobbins met Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Thursday.
Overall regional situation came under discussion during the meeting, which was also attended by US Ambassador to Pakistan Richard G Olson.
Dobbins eulogized the role of Pakistan both as an ally and as a major player in the region in the cause of peace and stability.
He assured the minister that US views that the Nawaz-led government as a reliable partner in the pursuit of peace and was committed to a multi-faceted and long-term relationship with Pakistan.
He said Pakistan’s importance was going to multiply in the aftermath of the withdrawal of US forces from Afghanistan.
Nisar emphasised the need for openness and transparency in relationship and demanded a genuine and honest appraisal and appreciation of Pakistan’s role without which the relationship can never be substantive or proactive.
It was agreed to maintain close interaction both at policy level and in term of areas of close cooperation.
