Morning Glory’s last Pakistani crew member arrives in Karachi

KARACHI-

The last remaining Pakistani crew member of hijacked Morning Glory Vessel arrived in Karachi on Wednesday, a private news channel reported.

Chief officer Ghufran Marghoob was received at the airport by his family members and rights activist Ansar Burney.

In March, Morning Glory oil tanker was hijacked by Libyan rebels while it was on its way Tunisia.

Out of the 21 crew members onboard, six were Pakistanis. The rebels offloaded the oil on the vessel and made the Morning Glory crew to move the ship out of the territory of Libya.

The ship was rescued in an operation by the US Navy Seals near Cyprus.

Three rebels were arrested and the vessel was taken back to Libya.

Five Pakistani crew members had returned home on April 5 but Marghoob had stayed back on Libyan government’s request to help in the offloading of the vessel.
