IGP reviews progress of probe into Mir’s case

Sindh Inspector General of Police Iqbal Mahmood presided over a meeting regarding law and order and reviewed the progress of targeted operations against the criminal elements in the metropolis.

According to a statement issued on Tuesday, the police chief also reviewed the progress of investigation of Hamid Mir’s case. The IGP directed the special investigation team, constituted under the Addl IGP Karachi, to speed up the investigation.

He directed to ensure effective security at the offices of the electronic and print media and for all working/field journalists. The IGP emphasized upon the senior police officers to devise an effective mechanism to monitor the performance of the junior officers and personnel for an efficient policing system.

Iqbal Mahmood stressed upon an effectual intelligence collection method at police stations/districts/range levels and directed to re-organise the existing system in accordance with the concept of pro-active policing. He made it clear during the meeting that inefficiency and negligence would not be tolerated at any cost.
