Dar assures Ghauri to release funds for Karachi projects

KARACHI

MQM’s Senator Babar Ghouri called on Finance Minister Ishaq Dar in Islamabad on Wednesday and discussed mega projects of the federal government for uplift of Karachi. He emphasized that Mass Transit Project, including Karachi Circular Railway will help people of the city to commute and it will also contribute to enhance business activity.
The senator congratulated the Prime Minister and the Finance Minister on behalf of the MQM leader Mr. Altaf Hussain, on successful launching of Euro Bond, strengthening of Pak rupee and performance of economy. He conveyed appreciation of Altaf Hussain on economic developments taking place in the country. He said that the turn around in Pakistan’s economy will lead to progress and development of the people.
The Finance Minister on his own behalf and on behalf of the Prime Minister thanked Altaf Hussain and Senator Ghauri for appreciation of the economic policies of the government and hoped that MQM will continue to play its due role in meeting the economic and development challenges being faced by the Country.
The Finance Minister assured the Senator that required funds for mega projects will be provided by the Federal Government.
He said that Karachi is the most populous commercial hub of the country and its Mass Transit Project is the top priority of the government. He mentioned that the Federal Government is in touch with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for providing necessary funds for the Karachi Circular Railway. He said that the Prime Minister has a vision for economic development of the country and linking of Karachi with Lahore through a motorway is included in the flagship programmes which the government intends to implement on fast track.
