Power tariff likely to be cut by a rupee per unit

Power consumers would find a sigh of relief in next month’s bills as the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has approved Rs1 nominal cut in the rate of power under the head fuel price adjustment.

The regulatory authority, under the fuel price adjustment for the month of March, would approve this cut in power tariff, which was sought by the central power purchasing agency (CPPA) under a monthly fuel price adjustment mechanism.

However, domestic consumers using 50 units a month on average would not benefit from this cut in power prices, besides, power consumers of K-Electric formerly known as Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC).

Price of furness oil and dollar rate dropped last month due to which the authorities decided to convey this benefit to the masses.
