Karachi special home secretary and Punjab additional secretary on Monday told a meeting of the Senate’s Standing Committee on Human Rights that the Pakistan Protection Ordinance (PPO) has already been implemented in Punjab and Sindh.
Committee member Farhatullah Babar said that the human rights committee had been told that the PPO was not yet implemented in Sindh, yet this disclosure changed all scenario, rather embroiling crisis further.
The committee was also informed that considering increased involvement of women in crime, female police force in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would be further increased.
Committee member Nasreen Jalil expressed her dissatisfaction with details of extra-judicial encounters in Punjab and Sindh. She also announced that a list of 46 missing MQM workers had been forwarded to the Sindh special home secretary.
