NA body urges govt to raise pension of EOBI staffers

ISLAMABAD

The National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development on Monday took notice of meagre pension being paid to EOBI employees and recommended to enhance it from Rs 3,600 to Rs 6,000 per month.
Mir Aamir Ali Khan Magsi chaired the meeting. The committee was briefed about the functions and performance of the employees Old-Age Benefits Institution (EOBI). The committee directed EOBI to submit complete detail of its collections from 2008 to 2013.
The committee inquired about promotions made in EOBI after firing 358 employees under allegation of illegal appointments and facts finding report of 2010-2011. The Committee sought the details on impacts on EOBI’s budget after recruiting above mentioned 358 employees along with a comparison of income and expenses of the department.
The committee appreciated EOBI’s Facilitation System for the employees and its efforts to further introduce biometric system in near future.
Earlier, the committee was briefed by Chairman EOBI about the functions and performance of its Department and the efforts to make it more viable/ facilitative in future.
Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Pir Sadruddin Shah Rashdi, Rana Muhammad Afzal Khan, Chaudhry Abid Raza, Ms Sabina Nazir, Shakila Khalid Luqman, Shagufta Jumani, Suriya Jatoi, Sheikh Slalhuddin, Aliya Kamran, Aisha MNAs attended the meeting.
