Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain has said that the present day is a day of information technology (IT) and it is considered a key to success. He said if they wanted to put Pakistan in the comity of developed nations their citizens must know what was happening around the globe.

Altaf expressed these views while giving a lecture to office-bearers of different wings, said a statement issued by MQM on Monday. Altaf lectured the participants about the importance and usefulness of print and electronic media including social media. Members of the Rabita Committee were also present on the occasion.

He said there were different ways of communication including TV, radio, newspapers, magazines, telephone, cellphones, computer, internet, books, libraries, nurseries, schools, colleges and universities were popular forms of communication.

People who are involved in charities, struggle against injustices and fight for rights should keep themselves abreast with the current affairs, he added. He said they could not call a person well-informed unless he kept himself abreast of all the latest developments. There should be a thirst to seek information with the development and advanced in communication, he added.

He said people of developed countries were regarded educated because they were well-informed about the developments in every field and they formulate their future policies on the basis of this information. Education was correlated with information, he said.

He informed the participants about his student life and modes of communication and media when he started his movement. He told them he used to prepare news reports with media personally. He added that even today in London he participates in the preparation of news. He said all the workers associated with the movement should work diligently and honestly, and should follow the news keenly so things can be rectified or corrected. He added that they should participate in all work and should not pass their responsibility to others. Workers should not hesitate to do small work, he said. Altaf paid tributes to martyrs of the movement and prayed that we should keep evil thoughts away from us and work for public welfare.
