Businessmen flay FBR move to raid shops

ISLAMABAD

The local business community have expressed great resentment and annoyance over the moves of FBR’s Intelligence and Investigative Department to conduct raids on shops under the sales tax law and called for urgent halt to such initiatives, otherwise, they would launch strong protest against the tax department.
Syed Adil Anis, president Traders Welfare Association, Melody Market, Islamabad while addressing a meeting of office bearers said that if any raid was conducted on shops or record confiscated, traders would strongly resist such move and in case of any law & order situation, FBR’s Intelligence & Investigative department will he held responsible.
He said by taking such moves, FBR seems to be conspiring to pit the business community against the government. He warned that if such initiatives were not halted urgently, traders would consider using all options to safeguard their dignity and self-respect and FBR’s concerned officials will be responsible for all consequences.
He also criticized the FBR move to depute a NAB officer for investigating tax matters of registered persons in Islamabad and appealed to the Finance Minister Ishaq Dar to save business community from blackmailing tactics of the tax department.
