Zardari, Bilawal to visit Punjab next week: Wattoo

Former president Asif Ali Zardari and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari are likely to visit Punjab next week to boost political activities in the largest and most populous province of the country.

Party leader Manzoor Wattoo said that both chairman and co-chairman have announced their visit to Punjab next week.

Wattoo said this visit would give new life to Pakistan People’s Party in Lahore and rest of the province.

Asif Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s visit to Punjab has been rescheduled after security threats. The schedule for the PPP chairman’s visit was discussed last week by the party’s central committee on the death anniversary of party founder Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.

In his tour to Lahore, “Bilawal will hold meetings with the district organisations and all meetings have been planned at the Bilawal House under strict security,” a PPP leader said.

Farhat Ullah Babar said, “The party’s provincial president Manzoor Wattoo is looking after the arrangements for the trip and no dates have been finalized yet.”

The PPP sees the visit will ‘re-organise and re-activate’ the PPP in Punjab, where it was remarkably defeated during the general elections last year.
