Sindh govt to hold Hamid Mir attack probe, says Pervaiz Rashid

KARACHI-

Federal Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid on Sunday put the responsibility over the Sindh Government to investigate the attack on TV anchor Hamid Mir, a private news channel reported.

Rashid, during his visit to the injured journalist at Aga Khan hospital, said that since the attack took place in Karachi, the provincial government will be holding the investigations.

He added that the federal government will be providing full support to Sindh authorities during the probe.

Mir was injured on Saturday when he was attacked by unidentified gunmen near Shahra-e-Faisal in Karachi.

He received three bullet injuries and was rushed to a hospital.

He is said to be in a stable condition and continues to recover.

Hospital sources added that Mir, right now unconscious, would soon be awake.

Pakistani government, major political parties, national and international media houses condemned the attack on the Geo News anchor.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has summoned a high-level meeting to discuss the attack on Hamid Mir and has assured Mir’s family of an independent investigation into the attack.
