Ahsan wants army to take notice of Rashid’s statements

Minister says every institution functioning within constitutional parameters

Sheikh Rashid is a rejected politician and the army should take notice of his statements as no one can talk about army except ISPR, said Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal on Saturday while addressing a ceremony held under Project Management on Saturday.

“Sheikh Rashid is a rejected politician. It is not known how such rejected politicians get hour long time in the TV programs. Those fomenting rumors about differences among the government and armed forces should wait till 2018 if they have to stay in politics. Sheikh Rashid talks of inviting army, therefore, army should take notice of such statements from him,” the federal minister said.

He held that undermining the political stability in the country is an anti state act.

He said every institution was functioning within constitutional parameters. Those opposed to Pakistan as nuclear power are churning out rumors of trust deficit between the government and armed forces while the situation is otherwise, he underscored.

Ambushing democracy repeatedly has caused harm to the country, he observed, adding that political stability is key to economic stability.

He went on to say that every avenue will be pursued for restoration of peace in the country.

Talking about Protection of Pakistan Ordinance (PPO), he said that PPO will stand dispensed with in two years following restoration of peace in the country, adding that the government was ready to to sit along with opposition to allay their reservations.

He further stressed that election era was over and now all the parties should work together for the prosperity and development of the country.

“We have succeeded in propping up sagging economy and now it is on the track to progress,” he said, adding that the government had gone to euro market to generate 500 million dollars but we had fetched 2 billion dollars in the wake of sale of euro bond.

International mindset is witnessing a monumental change, he said adding confidence of foreign investors and entrepreneurs has enhanced on Pakistan.

Pursuing five pillars is critical to achieve economic turn around, he underlined, adding that the economic corridor being built in collaboration with China and Lahore-Karachi motorway will be completed in the next four years.

“We are paying special attention to rein in the energy crisis. We have evolved planning to generate 22000 megawatt electricity with the cooperation of China within 7 years,” Ahsan Iqbal said.
