Zardari reviews development work in Tharparkar

Former president and PPP co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari during his visit of Tharparkar on Friday last chaired a meeting with the elected representatives and district office-bearers of PPP at Mithi Circuit House.

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Provincial Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon, members of provincial cabinet and Sindh Assembly as well as senior government officials attended the meeting.

Zardari reviewed the overall performance of the cabinet and members of the provincial assembly. He was given a detailed presentation about drought in Thar and the pace of rehabilitation work. The PPP co-chairperson stressed upon early completion of the rehabilitation process. He also reviewed progress on various ongoing development schemes of Thaparkar district with special reference to drinking water supply, food and health. He directed the authorities to ensure installation of desert coolers in all hospitals and schools of the district and expedite installation of 750 Reverse Osmosis (RO) plants at an accelerated pace. The chair was informed that as drought relief measures, 169,238 wheat bags have since been distributed, 202,646 patients provided treatment whereas 3.2801 million cattle heads vaccinated and 68,130 fodder bags distributed.

The Tharparkar deputy commissioner further disclosed that a team of 50 doctors/paramedical staff was also performing duties in Mithi. Zardari also directed the MPAs and district office-bearers of the PPP to start” Dastarkhwans” for at least 150 people on daily basis particularly in those areas where poor/needy people are residing.

He instructed to install “solar energy panels” in villages and town. He also directed to speed up Thar Coal Project and maintained that the first right will always remained with the people of this province. He asked to provide lands to landless women peasants for their livelihood. The meeting was informed that the Sindh government had been requested by different individuals, companies for adoption of schools/hospitals in Tharparkar. Asif Zardari directed the government to process it immediately and get it implemented.
