The Opposition leader in the National Assembly, Khursheed Shah, has demanded the list of Taliban prisoners released by the government saying freeing the hardened Taliban prisoners was domain of the court and not that of the government.

“Releasing hardened Taliban prisoners is job of the judiciary rather than the government. The government should provide us list of the released Taliban prisoners,” he said while talking to media on Saturday.

He stressed that the government should too have talked to the Taliban about the release of Shahbaz Tasir, Ali Raza Gilani and Pervez.

He went on to say that the meeting recently held between Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and former president Asif Ali Zardari was a routine matter. It had nothing to do with recent statement of army chief, he underlined.

The opposition leader said that reports about the change of Sindh chief minister Sindh were wrong and baseless. “Either the MQM joins the government or not, their doors are open for everyone,” he remarked. The PPP would stand in front line for the cause of fortification of democracy, he added.
