The prisoners of Larkana Central Jail Saturday revolted against the alleged ‘misbehaviour’ of the jail superintendent and other officials and took five policemen hostage.

The protesting prisoners went up on the roofs of jail barracks and held five policemen hostage. The prisoners also captured four wireless telephone sets. Rebellious prisoners complained that Jail Superintendent Afaq Rizvi and other jail officials misbehaved with prisoners and deprive them of legitimate facilities allowed by the jail manual. Prisoners complained that the officials did not produce them in court hearings and subjected them to torture if they fail to grease their palms. They said they were forced to protest against unjust attitude of the officials. Heavy contingents of police surrounded the jail after the prisoners’ revolt.
