National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq, Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal and Information Minister Pervez Rasheed on Friday said separately that there was no rift between the government and army.
They, however, admitted that there existed a difference of opinion.
Talking to reporters, the speaker clarified that there was no tension between Nawaz-led government and the army, adding that all institutions were working within their constitutional limits.
He said that talks with the Taliban terrorists were underway and the ceasefire would continue. The speaker, however, added that if a stage comes that the national security of the state is challenged, then the military and all institutions concerned would discharge their duties accordingly.
Separately, Ahsan Iqbal said that there was no strain between the government and the army, some politicians and a segment of media is trying to create misunderstandings between these two.
Talking to reporters, Iqbal turned down the notion that there is any strain between the government and military, both have learnt to work within their respective constitutional domains.
He said that some politicians and a group of media was trying to create misunderstandings between the government of Pakistan and military.
Speaking about the Pakistan Protection Ordinance (PPO), the PML-N minister said that it was aimed at restoring law and order; however the reservations of the opposition will surely be addressed.
