Till when eating of flesh will continue?

*LHC moved against lack of effective legislation in cannibalism cases

Lahore High Court (LHC) has been moved against lack of effective legislation in cannibalism cases.

The petitioner Kashif Mehmood through his petition has taken plea that the persons who have already been convicted in cannibalism case have repeated their offence for want of effective legislation.

The accused had confessed the crime of eating flesh of 150 dead bodies in Bhakkar but the quantum of  punishment awarded to them was far lower than the gravity of the crime due to lack of effective legislation.

The petitioner raised the point if 4 days jail term for cannibalism is sufficient to curb this heinous offence. He prayed the court to conduct day to day hearing of this case.

The court has issued notices to interior ministry, law ministry, Council for Islamic Ideology, inspector general of Punjab and Bhakkar DCO.
