Umar Akmal has another brush with the law

Cricketer Umar Akmal, who has in recent days experienced the long arm of the law, found himself involved in yet another legal case as the district administration registered a case against the star batsman and his caterer for violating the Marriage Act, a private TV channel reported.

According to the channel, the Rasm-e-Hina of Umar Akmal was being celebrated at a farmhouse in Lahore’s Bedian area on Tuesday night. The provincial government has imposed a ban on wedding functions going beyond the 10pm deadline and on serving more than one dish meal to guests, but in this case the cricketer violated both provisions of the Marriage Act. The police arrested two people from the venue while the Cantt assistant commissioner said the cricketer and his caterer would be charged under the relevant sections of the law.

Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has sought a report from the district administration on the incident.
