Lok Mela goes Balochi style!

The rich culture and traditions of Balochistan displayed at ‘Lok Mela’ proved to be an opportunity for the visitors to value the arts and crafts of the province along with the display of cultural materials of other provinces.

The organizers allocated spacious place to all the provinces for showcasing their indigenous folk culture in a creative and interactive manner.

The Balochi pavilion set up by the Balochistan Culture Department attracted the visitors with presentation of the richness of Balochi culture, arts, crafts, folk music, rituals, traditions, cuisine and folk entertainment.

When one enters Balochi pavilion through the beautifully designed gates, showing typical Balochi culture and architecture, it feels that they are in Balochistan.

The Balochi contingent included craftspeople, folk artists, musicians and dancers.

Master artisans participating in the mela were Malukan Bibi, Aziz Fatima, Kaneez Fatima, Husna, Gul Bano, Nazar Naz, Murad Bibi and Fazal Kakar in Balochi embroidery, Rozi Khan in Balochi shoes, Daryan in wood work and musical instruments making, Sehat Khatoon in bead work, Amina Rafique, Sabira Gul and Anila Rafique in Pushtoon embroidery, Muhammad Siddique and Muhammad Akram in traditional handlooms (weaving), Manzoor Ahmed in carpet weaving and Miral Khan in leather embroidery.

Among them, craftswoman in embroidery Kaneez Fatima, 44 is an educated lady. She stands out not only for her excellence but also in her tireless propagation of this traditional art by imparting it to the future generation.

Some of her apprentices have reached high professional levels while practicing the art. She has been participating in Lok Mela for the last 15 years and had been awarded several times with cash prizes and certificates.

While visiting the festival, traditional cuisine from Balochistan “Sajji” cannot be ignored as it is the specialty of this mountainous region. Residents of Rawalpindi-Islamabad enjoy the Balochi food and appreciate its unique taste.

There are many more form of Crafts , which are not mentioned here it means those weren't displayed there , so among those one is Pish Work Crafts , Chakan karri crafts these form of Crafts are still being used in Makran Region.
