The key accused of an alleged gang rape by six men in Sahiwal was arrested on Wednesday, a private news channel reported.
According to the report, the arrests was carried out following upon a deadline by the Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif and suspension of negligent police officers.
District Police Officer (DPO) Sahiwal Syed Khurram Ali Shah, talking to the TV channel, said that five accused had been arrested the same day of the event.
Three of the five arrested were involved in the gang rape while two others had made a video of the incident, he added.
They were given under the custody of police on a 10-day remand by an anti-terrorism court.
The sixth group member was arrested on Wednesday from Nankana Sahib and is due to appear in ATC for a police remand.
CM Sharif on Tuesday visited the family of the rape victim and suspended Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and two Station House Officers (SHO) for delaying the case for more than a month.
He had given an ultimatum to arrest all the alleged criminals within 48 hours.
