The Interior Ministry said on Tuesday that Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain must first get a National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis (NICOP) before applying for a CNIC and passport.

According to media reports, the Interior Ministry sent a formal reply to Foreign Ministry regarding the exiled leader’s application for a Pakistani passport and CNIC.

The statement said that once Altaf Hussain gets NICOP, all the procedure for Pakistani passport and CNIC can take place at the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA)’s London office.

For the process of getting an NICOP, Altaf Hussain has to submit biometrics and digital pictures.

  1. Malik mandate for KBD already existed in 1991 Water Accord. However the Water Accord awaits it implementation as now water shortages are being shared instead of future storages of water.
