Chaotic scenes were witnessed in the Sindh Assembly after an adjournment motion tabled by the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) was declared as against rules by a member from the treasury benches, a private news channel reported on Tuesday.

The motion had been tabled in protest of what the party called “extrajudicial killings and arrests” of its activists.

The motion was submitted by MQM’s parliamentary leader in the Sindh Assembly Mohammad Hussain and was rejected by Sindh Parliamentary Affairs Minister Dr Sikandar Mandhro who declared it to be in violation of House rules.

Opposition members erupted in protest against the decision following which members from both the treasury and opposition benches engaged in sloganeering.

Amid the cacophony in the House, Deputy Speaker Syeda Shehla Raza adjourned the session until Friday.
