Oscar-winning actor JenniferLawrence may eventually star in a Mystique spin-off, it has been revealed.
X-Men producers Lauren Shuler Donner and Simon Kinberg have expressed an interest in developing a stand-alone film for the mutant character, reported a US weekly.
“There was a regime at the studio that didn’t see the worth in spin-offs, and the current people who run Fox understand, embrace it, and we’re going to do right by it,” said Donner, who has produced every X-Men movie.
“I’d like to do Gambit. I’d like to do Deadpool. We’ll see. There’s a lot of really great characters. I love what Jen Lawrence has done with (Mystique), and I feel like because she is in such a crowded ensemble, there’s so much more opportunity if you were to follow her solo,” Kinberg said.
Lawrence will star in the latest film X-Men: Days of Future Past, which will arrive in UK cinemas on May 22 and in the US on May 23.
The next films in the series will be X-Men: Apocalypse on May 27, 2016, and another Wolverine project on March 3, 2017.
