CM wants sure and secure province

Shahbaz Sharif presides over high level meeting regarding law and order

Protection of life and property of the people is the foremost duty of the police, therefore, it should perform its duties diligently, said Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif while presiding over a high level meeting for reviewing the overall law and order situation in the province at the Allama Iqbal International Airport after his return from China on Saturday.

Provincial minister Rana Sanaullah, National Assembly Member Pervaiz Malik, Punjab Assembly Member Khawaja Imran Nazir, chief secretary, inspector general of police, home secretary, Lahore Division commissioner, Lahore CCPO, trade leaders and officials concerned attended the meeting.

The chief minister was apprised of the progress about the Ichra incident and overall law and order situation in the province during the meeting. A preliminary report of Ichra incident was also presented to the chief minister.

Shahbaz Sharif said that maintenance of law and order is the top priority of the government as without it, speedy development, promotion of trade and economic activities and investment is not possible. He directed that all possible steps should be taken for further improving law and order situation in the province and law enforcement agencies should work in a coordinated manner for this purpose. He directed that the police should spare no effort in ensuring protection of life and property of the people. He said that criminals should be apprehended and the culprits taken to task. Shahbaz Sharif said that now he wants results only. The chief minister directed that latest technology should be fully benefited for tracing out heinous crimes. He said that billions of rupees have been provided to the police and more resources will also be provided in future. However, the police will have to come up to the expectations of the people and perform its duties honestly and dedicatedly for creating sense of security among the people, he added. Shahbaz Sharif said that huge resources have been provided for improving police performance and modern training has also been arranged for its capacity building. He said that a modern Command and Control Centre is being set up in the provincial capital and work on this project is continuing speedily.
