UN issues $950m for KP, FATA displaced persons

United Nations’ (UN) Central Emergency Response Fund has granted 950 million dollars of aid for the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) and mutiny hit areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), a private news channel reported on Saturday.

The aid has been given on humanitarian grounds and to fulfill the immediate needs of more than 10 lac displaced persons.

According to UN Resident Coordinator Timo Pakkala, the aid will be spent on food for 80,000 people, medical facilities for five lac persons, clean water and sewerage for two lac persons and basic food service for 65,000 people including children.

He added that the aid will also provide temporary shelter and will also provide necessary items for 14,000 IDPs.
