Spring festival celebrated

BMI–B celebrated an extended Spring Festival ‘Express Yourself’ with its traditional zeal and fervor. The Festival comprised of a ‘Pet Show’, ‘Regional Art Competition’, ‘BMI – B Art, Craft and Design Club’ exhibition and a ‘Food fiesta’.  The balloons, posters and freshly bloomed flowers highlighted the spring ambiance.

This year BMI – B got the opportunity to host the Regional Art Competition (North).  Many teams from different branches of Beaconhouse School System, Northern Region participated in this Art Competition. The teams include BSTR-B.BSTR-G, BSR-G, BSR-B, BMI-G, BMI-B, BMI-A, BEC, WAH, BCLR, HASPR, F-11, SBGR, BPC. The budding artists presented their skills in three categories, Painting (O and A level), Head Sculpture, Bust (Class VIII) and Still life (ClassVII). Students participated enthusiastically in the competitions and showed their talents to their best. Mr. Zahid ul Haq, Associate Professor, National College of Arts graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The prominent judges were Ms. Maymoona Khan, Head of Fine Arts Department, GovernmentCollege6th Road, Ms. Gaytee Ara, Head of Fine Arts, IslamabadCollege for Girls and Mr. Hassan Tariq, Sculptor from National College of Arts, Rawalpindi. Mr. Syed Khayam Junaid, Regional Art coordinator BSS and Mr Asif Majeed Butt, Principal BMI were also present on the occasion.

Programme started with the verses of Holy Quran followed by Naat and National Anthem. Ms. Naila Sohail, Headmistress BMI – B, welcomed the guests and declared the festival open. She also thanked the parents for taking out time for the festival to encourage the students. Hussain Shehzad, Usama Azam and Sarang Talpur of BMI – B presented songs to feast the souls. Faraz Sahel of BSS F-7/4 Branch enthralled the audience with his instrumental music.

The students of the ‘Art, craft and Design Club” displayed their creative skills. They have beautifully made several things throughout the term including glass painting, pot painting, clay models, leaf printing, canvas painting and candle making.

In the ‘Pet Show’ different breeds of cats and dogs were showcased. Some of the students also bought their chicks, beautiful birds, rabbits and horse for the show.

The area marked for the ‘Food Fiesta’ was full of all sorts of fun filled activities for the children. Several stalls were put up by the students and vendors. There were eatables, games, clothes etc. The play area was the best where all the children had a lot of fun. The students and guests thoroughly enjoyed this joyful and peaceful event.
