South Korean Prime Minister (PM) Chung Hongwon will arrive in Islamabad on Sunday (today) on a four-day official visit to Pakistan at the invitation of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

This will be the first visit by a South Korean PM to Pakistan since establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 1983.

During his stay, the distinguished guest will meet Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif followed by delegation level talks. He will also call on President Mamnoon Hussain.

Hongwon will be the chief guest at the Korea Pakistan Investment Cooperation Forum jointly organised by Pakistan Board of Investment and Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency on April 14.

Chung Hongwon will also meet the Korean community and visit Shakkar Parian to plant a sapling, followed by a visit to the National Monument in Islamabad.

Many Korean companies have shown keen interest in investment in the country in the areas of chemical industry, hydel, thermal power and infrastructure projects.

The visit will be of special significance as it will give new impetus to the existing friendly relations between the two countries.
