Musharraf’s trial not linked to army: Ahsan Iqbal

Minister for Planning and Development and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Ahsan Iqbal on Saturday said that the treason trial of former president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf was not linked to the army, a private news channel reported.

Iqbal was speaking to media reported in Lahore.

He said that the retired general remained in politics after his retirement from the army and so his trial was not connected to the armed forces, adding that those who are trying to link the case to the armed forces intend to cause a political crisis in the country.
“Pakistan cannot bear these kinds of conspiracies,” he said.

Talking about peace talks with the militant outfit Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), Iqbal said that the government could have decided for a military action went for the option of holding a dialogue with the outlawed group for the sake of peace in the country.

  1. Kindly someone told to Mr Ahsan Iqbal, that they’re leveling charges of treason on Musharraf on his act when he was Chief of army staff, so its simply mean he is leveling this to the Pakistan Army.
    Kindly open your eyes and love Pakistan and love people who are patriotic and sincere and Honorable Pervez Musharraf is a true patriotic pakistani and sincere leader Pakistan ever had.
    Musharraf coming back in power is very important for a prosperous Pakistan.
