Supreme Court (SC) has given till April 16 to Punjab Police for recovery of two brothers including Khalid Khalil and Hassan Abdullah, who had gone missing from Lahore, and filing of the progress report thereof before it.
A three-member bench of the SC headed by Justice Jawwad S Khawaja took up the missing persons case for hearing Friday.
The court was informed that several people had seem the missing brothers being picked up from their homes, when they were engaged in the preparations in connection with a wedding ceremony of their sister.
Justice Jawwad S Khawaja remarked: “Only the one whose relative has gone missing knows the intensity of matter. Evidence pointing towards the Elite Force is available. Still, achieving no progress is a matter of grave concern. The investigation team has pointed finger at a federal intelligence agency.”
DIG Zulfiqar told the court that an FIR stood registered in Hanjarwall police station and evidences available point to involvement of a federal intelligence agency.
In reply, the frustrated SC justice remarked that 17 months had elapsed but the two brothers were still non-traceable. He directed DIG Zulfiqar to take personal interest and trace out these two brothers, and the investigation team to meet the Punjab advocate general and the petitioner.
“More evidences should also be collected,” he directed.
The court directed the attorney general to get the two missing people recovered by April 16.
“Police should present the report in this regard,” the court ruled.
