Rs 500k per dead, Rs 75k per injured

Hamza Shahbaz visits PIMS for Sabzi Mandi blast victims, distributes compensation cheques

Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on Thursday approved Rs 0.5 million each as compensation for those who were killed in the Islamabad Sabzi Mandi blast.

According to a Prime Minister’s Office statement issued, the injured would get Rs 75,000 each.

As many as 24 persons were killed and dozens injured when a bomb ripped through the Islamabad’s fruit and vegetable market on Wednesday.

Moreover, leader of Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) Hamza Shahbaz Sharif Wednesday said that Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif was making sincere efforts for maintaining long-term peace in the country.

The elements against the process of peace talks with Taliban were creating obstacles to sabotage it. He was talking to media persons during visit to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) along with MNA Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, PML-N leaders Hanif Abbasi and Anjum Aqeel to inquire after the health of the victims of fruit and vegetable market blast.

Hamza also distributed compensation cheques among the injured. He said the prime minister had taken initiative of peace talks with Taliban that was moving forward in transparent manners.

To a question, he said that Pakistan was in war-like situation, adding that security agencies had been working efficiently and rendered sacrifices for restoring peace in the country. Hamza expressed condolence with the blast victims’ families.
