Railways preserving its heritage: minister

Federal Minister for Railways Khwaja Saad Rafique on Thursday said that the Pakistan Railways (PR) is preserving its heritage as two separate museums at Lahore and Karachi would soon be set up.

Talking to journalists after inaugurating new rake of Tezgam Express, he said that the heritage and those articles having historic nature would be preserved and funding for the project is presently being managed from the existing resources of the PR.

Meanwhile, he said separate funds would be allocated for the project in the upcoming budget besides establishing Heritage Council of PR for the purpose. He also directed that work on the HeritageMuseum at Golra, near Rawalpindi should be completed at a pace.

The minister while visiting the Restaurant of Rawalpindi station directed the PR management to make sincere efforts for the perseverance of heritage of their organization as all the furniture and fixture at the Railway Stations across the country are ages old.
