The vice president PML-N’s lawyers’ wing, Syed Waqar Shah, was killed in a firing incident on Thursday.
According to details, unidentified gunmen opened fire at his car in Gulshan-e-Iqbal killing advocate Syed Waqar Shah on the spot. The police collected seven shells of 9MM pistol from the site. According to witnesses, four armed men attacked the vehicle of Syed Waqar.
Following the news, the lawyers’ fraternity boycotted court proceedings in the troubled metropolis. Meanwhile, three students were killed and four others injured in a firing incident on a roadside hotel in Gulistan-e-Johar on late Wednesday night. According to reports, unknown gunmen opened fire on a hotel in Gulistan-e-Jauhar killing two students of a local seminary and injuring four others.
Tension gripped Gulistan-e-Jauhar and adjacent areas as armed men fired aerial shots and burnt tyres to protest against the incident. The enraged people also took to the streets and pelted the passing vehicles with stones. Earlier, a doctor was killed and another man injured as a result of firing on a car in Gulistan-e-Jauhar. Funeral prayers for three students were offered in Gulshan-e-Johar.
POLICE ARREST 70 CRIMINALS
The city police in their ongoing drive against criminals have arrested 70 alleged criminals from different parts of the metropolis during last 24 hours.
The police during 100 raids and nine encounters arrested murderers, absconders, drug peddlers, robbers and others for their alleged involvement in various crimes, said a statement on Thursday. The police also recovered different kinds of arms and drugs from their possession.
