The police carried out massive search operation in Afghan slum areas and other places outside the city following yesterday’s deadly blast that killed at least 24 people.
Islamabad IG had formed four probe teams that raided different places in Sheikhupura, Arifwala, Kabirwala and other areas, and rounded up six suspects.
Guavas packed in crates had been transported to Islamabad Sabzi Mandi from these areas, one of which exploded, resulting in casualties. Besides these, heavy contingent of police raided different places around Islamabad, including Afghan slum areas, and picked up more than 30 suspects.
TRADERS MOURN SABZI MANDI BLAST:
In the meanwhile, vegetable and fruit shops remained closed in Islamabad farmers’ market on Thursday to mourn Wednesday’s blast.
Meanwhile, fruit and vegetable supply to different areas of the capital city was suspended.
Protesting traders have demanded from the government to ensure their security.
On the other hand, district administration will take control of the market on Interior Ministry’s directives, whereas, security of the market will be reviewed as well.
Police have arrested more than 30 suspects during search operation in different areas of the city.
According to police, no important development was made during the investigation.
A probe team will be formed to investigate the incident.
