*2,500 Sikh pilgrims arrive to celebrate Baisakhi

About 2,500 Sikh pilgrims arrived at the Wahga Railway Station on Thursday through special trains to celebrate the 315th Baisakhi festival.

Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB) Vice Chairman Chaudhry Riaz, Additional Secretary Shrine Khalid Ali, Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee President Sardar Sham Singh and other officials received them warmly at the railway station.

The government has made foolproof security arrangements besides immigration, customs, banking and medical facilities at the railway station to facilitate the pilgrims.

Talking to journalists, Herbeb Singh who is leading one of the pilgrim groups, appreciated arrangements made by the ETPB to facilitate pilgrims in Pakistan.

He hoped that both the governments would take steps for the welfare of their nations.

Soon after arrival, the pilgrims left for Punja Sahib Hassan Abdaal where they will stay for four days and perform their rituals.

A special function “Bhog Akhand Paath Sahib” will be held on April 14.

After that the pilgrims will leave for Nankana Sahib and they will also visit Sucha Suda Farooqabad.

On April 16, they will go to Gurdwara Dera Sahib in Lahore and then visit Gurdwara Rori Sahib Aimanabad and Kartarpur Narowal on April 17.

The pilgrims will return to India on April 19.
