- Acting IG says police cannot check every truck that enters fruit market
The Interior Ministry has made foolproof security arrangements in the federal capital following the gruesome bomb blast at Pir Wadhai near Sabzi Mandi area Wednesday in which at least 23 people were killed and 42 injured.
Security of Red Zone, including Constitution Avenue and D-Chowk was put on high alert while irrelevant and unauthorized persons were not allowed to travel through these routes.
Parliament House, Supreme Court of Pakistan, PM House, Presidency, Pak Secretariat, Diplomatic Enclave, Constitution Avenue, D-Chowk and area from PTV building to Cabinet Division were declared as Red Zone.
The district administrators also directed Islamabad IG to beef up security at exit and entry points of the capital and maintain strict vigilance against suspicious elements.
The ICT police have increased mobile patrolling throughout the federal capital and extraordinary security measures are being put in place in and around Parliament House as well as other sensitive installations in the city.
Meanwhile, a police source said that strict checking of vehicles has been started at all entry and exit routes of Islamabad as security has been put on high alert in the capital. He said all SPs, SDPOs and SHOs of all police stations have been directed to take strict action against suspicious people and anti-social elements.
On the other hand, security has been tightened around all sensitive installations as well as government buildings and extra force has been provided to police station.

In the meanwhile, addressing the journalists, acting Islamabad inspector general Khalid Khattak has said that police cannot check every truck that enters the fruit market of Islamabad.
He explained that hundreds of trucks and vehicles enter and leave the Islamabad’s fruit market throughout the day so it is almost impossible for police or security officials to check each and every one. However, he added that police officials were always deployed in the market.
