‘Explosives detection scanners failed us’

ISLAMABAD

Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Wednesday revealed that two scanners were imported by the previous government to detect explosives but they turned out to be a complete failure.
Talking to media at the bombing scene, he said the former government had sought to import four scanners, of which only two were brought to the country, and those too failed to detect explosives.
The minister said most of those killed in the bombing were poor people who were buying fruits. He said poor people from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Waziristan and other parts of the country became victim of fruit market bombing and left their families and children helpless.
The minister said the government would follow the criminals and bring them to justice.
