Doctors fear a rise in dengue fever cases this year owing to poor preventive measures

The Health Department has lagged behind in taking sufficient preventive measures against dengue fever and it is feared that dengue r cases may increase this year as compared to previous years.

The dengue larvae and mosquitoes were found at many places in Rawalpindi including colleges, nurseries and others during current year as practical steps like anti-dengue fogging and sprays were inadequately taken by the concerned officials.

Doctors said keeping this scenario in mind, arrangements have been made in BenazirBhuttoHospital, DistrictHeadquartersHospital and Holy Family hospital for the treatment of dengue patients. Special training of doctors and paramedical staff have been arranged in Rawalpindi and Lahore.

Benazir Bhutto Hospital Medical Superintendent Asif Qadir Mir said that a separate counter and 25-bed ward have been set up in the hospital for the dengue patients.

Similarly, Holy Family Hospital MS Dr Arshad Ali Sabir and DHQ Hospital MS Dr Nasir Mehmood said that counters and wards in their respected hospitals have been set up to facilitate and treat the dengue patients.
