Justice Alam sworn in as new PHC CJ

Justice Mazhar Alam Khan Miankhel sworn in as the new Chief Justice of the Peshawar High Court on Thursday.

KP Governor Engineer Shaukatullah, who is also reported to have tendered his resignation on the same day, administered the oath to Miankhel.

The swearing in ceremony, which was held at the KP Governor House, was attended by Chief Minister Pervez Khattak, KP senior minister and Jamaat-i-Islami Sirajul Haq provincial ministers, senior government officials and members of the judiciary.

The family of Justice Miankhel was also present on the occasion.

Justice Mazhar Alam Miankhel hails from KP’s Dera Ismail Khan District.

He has twice served as member of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Bar Council and was elevated to the bench as an additional judge on Sept 7, 2009. Subsequently, he was confirmed as a judge of the high court on Sept 5, 2011.
