Clerics trying to give rebirth to MMA

ISLAMABAD

Clerics have started joint efforts to revive the former Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA).
A meeting among the heads of religio-political parties is likely to take place soon.
Jamaat-e-Islami leader Liaqat Baloch has also expressed his keen desire to assure such an instance in the larger interest of Muslims. While the clerics also want to avoid any further division of mandate.
Sources said that efforts have also been announced to end any reservations and concerns of the JUI-F, while there is a strong possibility of meeting among all MMA-related clerics in Islamabad soon.
Baloch said that JI chief-designate Sirajul Haq had received many congratulation messages upon his appointment, and while replying to a question said that the MMA was an effective platform for religious parties but had some irreconcilable differences to face.
“So far the JI is a coalition partner with the PTI in KP, hence it would have to wait until next elections for any decision,” he said.
To another question, he said that the Milli Yakjehti Council was already active, while efforts were underway to increase its scope of action, announcing an international level convention on April 15.
