Department of Environment district Rawalpindi has sealed 20 tyre shops and junk yards during its anti-dengue campaign.
According to District Officer Environment Mian Nawaz, raids are being conducted during anti-dengue campaign while the department has checked as many as 185 tyre shops and junk yards in different areas.
He said, 20 tyre shops have been sealed upon finding larva and for not taking any precautionary measures against dengue.
The department has accelerated its campaign against dengue while strict action will be taken against the rules violators, he added. He said, the department had strictly warned the shopkeepers that tyres, new and old, should be properly packed and covered which will help reduce the risk of the dengue spreading. He also warned that the violators of the orders would be dealt strictly and their tyres would not only be confiscated but cases would also be registered against them.
The tyre puncture shops and Junk yards have also been directed to take all preventive steps and all tyres should be properly wrapped so that rain water could not collect in the tyres that could be a perfect breading place for dengue mosquitoes.
