PPP Karachi workers observe Bhutto’s 35th death anniversary



The 35th death anniversary of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto is being observed with due solemnity in Karachi with Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) workers holding recitation of holy verses (Quran khawani) at their respective ward offices.

They have also arranged “langar” food distribution among poor after Juma prayers at their respective offices as well as around major mosques in the city.

While hundreds of PPP activists from Karachi have left for Garhi Khuda Baksh, to offer fateha at the mausoleum of their leader and also attend the public meeting scheduled to be addressed by party chairman and other senior leaders, those in metropolis have made special arrangements for live telecast of the proceedings at their respective offices.

Since Sindh Government has declared public holiday hence comparatively thin traffic was witnessed on city roads while business activity is also expected to pick late as the day happens to be a Friday.

Waqar Mehdi, special assistant to the Sindh Chief Minister said provision for food and potable water has been ensured for workers at Garhi Khuda Baksh.

This, he said was besides free medical camps set-up by Peoples’ Doctors Forum.

Fool proof arrangements have also been made for the security of the workers with due consideration towards smooth traffic flow, he added.
