Senior leader of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and leader of the opposition in National Assembly, Syed Khurshid Shah, has said that dictatorship-like democracy is not acceptable to his party.

Addressing a public gathering in connection with the death anniversary of PPP leader Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto at Garhi Khuda Buksh on Friday, Khurshid Shah said though a democratically-elected government was ruling the country, it seemed the government was a successor of the dictator.

He said the PPP sacrificed more than any other political party for restoration and strengthening democracy in the country. The opposition leader alleged that the sitting government was planning to deprive thousands of employees of their livelihood through its anti-masses policy of privatization of national institutions.

Khurshid Shah said the PPP would oppose privatization of state-owned bodies without making alternate arrangement for the employees. The PPP leader said his party whenever came in power provided jobs to the unemployed educated persons but the incumbent government following its policy of political vengeance was trying to deprive them of their jobs which would further increase poverty and unemployment in the country.

He said the government had tall claims of restoration of peace in the country but on the other hand it was trying to make thousands of people jobless which will further intensify the already deteriorated law and order situation.
