The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Thursday ordered the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to immediately release two of the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) aircraft it had seized earlier.

The FBR had confiscated the carriers for non-payment of tax worth Rs 56 million. The PIA then filed a petition challenging this move.

During the hearing, PIA lawyer Haider Sheikh informed the court that the two aircraft were rented from a European company and the said tax was not applicable on them. After hearing the argument, the SHC ordered the release of aircraft. The hearing was adjourned till April 28 when the applicability of the tax will be discussed.
