Captain of Pakistan T20 team Mohammad Hafeez on Thursday resigned from his position while accepting responsibility for poor team performance World T20 , private news channels reported.
Hafeez, addressing a press conference, said that he was not taking the decision under any pressure.
He said that he is ready to play under anyone’s captaincy adding that it was now up to the Pakistan Cricket Board to decide the new captain.
Hafeez said that the whole team was responsible for a dismal performance in the matches.
He urged the media and public to avoid any speculations over his decision.
He thanked the board, fans and players for their support and confidence.
Meanwhile, Pakistan coach Moin Khan welcomed the all-rounders decision to resign and urged that the batsmen should learn from their mistakes in the tournament.
Khan also informed that his contract with PCB has expired as he was appointed as the coach for two tournaments.
He expressed his willingness to recommend a new name for captaincy whenever PCB asks for it.
