Wattoo has his hand behind APTMA

PPP leader says govt not interested to solve energy crisis creating a menace for textile sector

The government should take steps on emergent basis and rectify the situation by improving the gas and electricity supply to save the people from agonising load shedding including the textile sector which is the biggest contributor of exports and earns much needed foreign exchange for the national exchequer, said PPP Punjab President Mian Manzoor Ahmad Wattoo in a statement issued on Wednesday.

He said that he supported the strike call of the All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA) because the crippling load shedding of gas and electricity had severely hampered the productivity of the textile sector besides hurting the workers and exports of the country.

He said that the PML (N) leadership used to make tall claims during the electioneering to solve the problem of energy crisis sooner than later as they had the magic wand and their experts were carrying holistic solution of the problem.

He observed that the load shedding in the country had been between 8 to 12 hours in urban areas and 18 hours in rural areas even at the commencement of the summer season, adding that one wondered what would happen during the peak of the hot weather when the people would switch on their air- conditioners.
