Afghanistan’s new ambassador to Pakistan called on Sartaj Aziz, the adviser to prime minister on national security and foreign affairs, and discussed ways to further improve and strengthen bilateral cooperation in all areas of common interest.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, newly appointed ambassador Janan Mosazai paid a courtesy call on Aziz.
Aziz said that the Foreign Office will extend full cooperation to Mosazai in discharge of his mission in Pakistan. The ambassador expressed gratitude for the warm welcome he had received in Pakistan. They discussed the current state of relations between the two countries ways to further improve and strengthen bilateral cooperation in all areas of common interest.
In order to further strengthen mutual trust and confidence, the need for enhanced people-to-people contacts and regular interaction at the official level was emphasised.
The adviser reaffirmed Pakistan’s continuing support and facilitation of efforts for peace and reconciliation in Afghanistan and wished them success in their forthcoming elections.
The meeting came a day after Pakistan’s deputy head of mission in Kabul was summoned by Afghan officials.
