NA session: Resolution on removal of YouTube ban delayed on opposition by treasury bench

ISLAMABAD-

The National Assembly treasury bench on Tuesday opposed a resolution demanding the removal of ban on YouTube, a private news channel reported.

According to the reports, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Shazia Marri submitted the resolution demanding the removal of YouTube ban maintaining that since the website could be accessed through proxy websites, the ban is pointless.

The National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq delayed the resolution on opposition by the treasury members of NA.
PPP MNA Nafisa Shah tabled a resolution seeking improvements in the curriculum and disciplinary mechanisms in religious seminaries.

The resolution was approved.

Shah said that while there are seminaries involved in the promotion of sectarianism and extremism, the majority of them are playing a positive role.
She demanded the seminaries curriculum should also include science subjects.

Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Mohammad Yousuf mentioned that 8,000 religious schools have been teaching science subject while consultations were underway to form a regulatory authority to looks over the seminaries.

Also during today’s NA session, MNA from the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Kishwar Zehra expressed dissatisfaction over the Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar’s explanatory statement the the $1.5bn loan was granted to Pakistan by a ‘friendly’ country.

Awami Muslim League (AML) president Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed walked out the house in protest for the lack of quorum in the NA.
