Even though Pakistan skipper Mohammed Hafeez apologised to the fans for not showing enough stomach for fight against the West Indies as they crashed to a huge 84-run defeat to make an exit from the ICC World Twenty20 on Tuesday, cricket enthusiasts across the board lashed out at the Pakistan Cricket Board chaired by Najam Sethi for the team’s debacle at Dhaka.

It is first time that Pakistan have not made it to the last-four stage of the tournament since its inception in 2007.

Talking to Pakistan Today, Muhammad Rehan from Lahore said: “Can any selector or any one in PCB explain the inclusion of Kamran Akmal and Shoaib Malik into the national team? I think it was our national team but from the very start of this tournament it was looking that it was any club team.”

Another fan, Jameel Athar said: “I had cancelled my meetings just to watch this game but I have to admit it was one of the saddest games I saw. I mean Pakistan played like an emerging country playing cricket , it’s high time PCB realise it’s not the bowlers who win you crucial games but consistent batsmen , I so missed Younis Khan and Yousuf Y. Very disappointing game my full sympathies with all fellow Pakistanis.”

Siddique Khan from Rawalpindi said: “When will Pakistani team selectors give preference to merit instead of parchi system? Shoaib Malik had no place in this team. They should have played Fawad Alam and Sharjeel Khan.”

A dejected Rizwan Razi said: “A pathetic display ever by Pakistan. I will never ever watch Pakistan team match again in my life. This was so shameful defeat that discarded all their effort to reach at this stage. Predictable result of tukka-baz Pakistani team. I question why there is even a PCB and coaching staff as Pakistani team never plays under any strategy, discipline or professionalism.”

Reacting to the scathing criticism on social media and TV channels, PCB Chairman Najam Sethi resorted to twitter to come up with his explanation. “Yes, Tar and feather ME for what the boyses are doing!!” he tweeted.
