‘Death squad’ in city police targeting MQM workers

The Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM) coordination committee repeated the allegations which were leveled by the party’s chief regarding a ‘death squad’ in the city police which targeted party workers of ‘Mohajir’ ethnicity.

Speaking to media during an emergency press conference at the party headquarters, MQM coordination committee member Haider Abbas Rizvi alleged that some racist and narrow minded police officers were involved in extra judicial killings of party workers in the name of Karachi operation like the one in Gharo where MQM workers Sanaullah and Mansoor were brutally killed and their bodies were thrown away.

He said such elements had formed a ‘death squad’ of plain clothes policemen who were kidnapping MQM workers and killing them outside Karachi.

Rizvi urged the Human Rights organisations to speak up against injustices meted out during targeted operation in Karachi. The press conference was called after slain MQM workers were recovered from Gharo district of Sindh.
